My children and I are listening to a "learn Spanish through songs" audio in the car as we drive around. It's a review but fun and certainly doesn't hurt!
There was one phrase I wasn't sure I'd ever heard before. Then I automatically tried to think of how it was spelled based on how she said it. After I minute I realized what it actually was, based on the spelling of those sounds, and I adjusted my pronunciation with the new understanding.
I've heard my kids do the same thing in English AND Spanish. The sounds may be a bit off and we need to be more specific.
I love the Abuelita Spanish approach! Reading in the language will help them get it right from the start.
